Enrichment Subjects

All Sixth Form students study an enrichment subject for three lessons each Wednesday.

Enrichment subjects offer a variety of benefits that enhance both personal and academic development. It  plays an important role in shaping well-rounded students who are prepared for future educational and career challenges. They offer a break from traditional academic subjects and allow students to develop a broader skill set that is highly valued in today's competitive world.

We offer the following Enrichment Subjects.

  • Extended Project Qualification (EPQ): The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is designed to develop and extend students' skills in independent research, project management, and academic writing. The EPQ allows students to choose a topic of their interest, which can be related to their future studies, career aspirations, or personal passions. The project culminates in either a research-based written report or a practical project.
  • Performing Arts: This course is designed to suit students who are interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts. This qualification is equivalent to one A-level and provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the performing arts industry, focusing on both practical skills and theoretical knowledge.
  • Sports Leadership: This course is designed to develop leadership skills and promote physical activity amongst students.   In Year 12, the Level 2 Community Sports Leadership Award will help you to become a positive role model in Sport, to learn how to mentor others and to use your leadership skills in a variety of different ways.  Achieving the nationally recognised Level 3 Higher Award enables you to lead unsupervised groups of people in sport and recreational activities.  It teaches generic transferable leadership skills through the medium of sport.
  • Work Experience:  Participating in work experience provides students with a practical understanding of the working world. It helps students develop professional skills, such as time management, teamwork, and communication, while also clarifying career interests. This real-world exposure can enhance a student’s resume and provide invaluable networking opportunities.
